Schlein: "Government inaction is complicity in crimes in Gaza"

The opposition against the Meloni government on Gaza . Elly Schlein states: "Faced with Netanyahu 's criminal plan to occupy Gaza , even against the army's advice, you cannot remain idle. The European Union can no longer afford it, nor can the Italian government." The Democratic Party secretary continues: "The sanctions, the total arms embargo, the suspension of cooperation agreements with Israel, and the immediate recognition of Palestine are now signals that must be sent immediately, to stop the crimes of the far-right Israeli government."
Schlein adds: "Other countries in Europe are doing it too; today Germany suspended arms shipments to Israel. Italy must terminate the memorandum of military cooperation and immediately recognize the state of Palestine. Inertia is not an option, it's complicity."
Five Star Movement President Giuseppe Conte lashed out: "There isn't even a shred of humanity in our government's silence, which I'm increasingly ashamed of. Does Meloni have nothing to say other than playing the victim, along with her ministers, to wage this furious battle against the judges? Let's remember that we gave political cover to the Israeli government responsible for a historic genocide; we didn't impose a single sanction. We didn't even tear up the military agreements. An indelible stain on our Italy."
Harsh Angelo Bonelli , AVS MP and leader of the Greens: "Netanyahu, with the Israeli army, has decided to occupy Gaza, thus completing his criminal strategy of deportation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. I ask President Meloni: what are you waiting for to not only condemn, but immediately apply sanctions and revoke the military cooperation agreements with Israel?".
